Any open source disk duplicating software?

BokehBokeh Member Posts: 1,636 ■■■■■■■□□□
I have a few drives to upgrade this week, and am looking for something other than Ghost, so I dont have to go to an external drive and then back to the new drive. I want to be able to slap the new drive in, copy data, then remove the old one and have the user happy again. Any suggestions?

I'd recommend buying a copy of Acronis, it's worth it.

    Or try:

    Clonezilla
DriveImage XML Backup Software - Data Recovery Product
    Plantwiz

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?

I was reading about a new one yesterday called FOG. It looks like this has some nice features if you only need to clone Windows clients.

Use dd if you want a bit to bit copy.

Why does it have to be open source?

WinPE with ImageX always serves me well.

    Clonezilla is junk, IMO.

Second this, no need to use an open source when this is already free if you're looking to image Windows.

Because most people equate free with open source. I don't see why this is a point of contention. I'm sure we all understand what he's looking for.
