Test scheduled for Thursday

I have rescheduled my certification exam for Thursday afternoon. My wife is out of town until next week, so I can study late, cram, and read out loud while walking in circles memorizing 3x5 cards (which drives her crazy .)
Any last minute suggestions :

I'd wish you luck but I don't think you'll need it. Just make sure to get a good nights rest before the exam, eat a light lunch, energy shot (4 or 5 hour) if you need the boost.
Have you tried the simulated exam portion of Examforce yet? It's usually a different set of questions than what is in the adaptive drills test bank. I don't know if the 70-680 will have different questions or not.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

I didn't realize that, good idea!
I have been using the MS Press CD, and have been less than impressed with it. The questions are written horribly, and the answer options aren't that great either. Very disappointing... -

veritas_libertas Member Posts: 5,746 ■■■■■■■■■■Ouch, I am licking my wounds and trying to understand how I could have spent so much time on the MS Press book and not passed...
My weak areas were the following:- Deploying Windows 7
- Cofiguring Access to Resources
- Monitoring and Maintaining Systems that Run Windows 7
- Configuring Backup and Recovery Options
I also found that I had a difficult time figuring out switches for different commands. -
earweed Member Posts: 5,192 ■■■■■■■■■□Sorry to hear that veritas. I was coming here expecting to see good news.
At least you'll know better what to expect when you retake it. It could have been worse..you could've failed the Vista test like I didNo longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

I'm pretty sure I hit 10k in May; I stopped keeping track. I think I ended up between 15-20k last year.veritas_libertas wrote: »Ouch, I am licking my wounds and trying to understand how I could have spent so much time on the MS Press book and not passed...
Was that your only resource? I like the MS Press books (usually), but I don't think I would have ever passed an exam with one alone. Oh well, the beta test is over with. Now you know what to tweak the next time around. -

Sorry to hear it bro. You know what you have to work on and I know you'll kill it in round 2. I think the second shot deal is still happening right? You could recoup and give it a go before the end of June. -

Yeah, from what I heard the Sybex book is actually worse than the MS Press Which makes the MS Press book virtually the only one available for the 70-680. -

I think thats the only way to really get the deployment ingrained in your brain. It helped me that I had deployed a few thousand vista boxes by the time I took the 7 beta test. -

I usually only use one book. I typically supplement that with a practice exam (Transcender) and hands-on work. Any deficiencies I find when working with those can be addressed at Technet. -
Michael.J.Palmer Member Posts: 407 ■■■□□□□□□□This is a little scary to see, I'm using mainly the MS Press Book while doing the labs in class two days a week. I've got another source using OnlineExpert.com (anyone ever use that btw, I just started) and I'm watching the Tom Carpenter videos online there to try and make sure I'm prepared...
In any case, got word that I'll be testing in a week or two so here it goes. Did you have any surprise questions that you didn't see coming? Like anything that wasn't covered that well in the MS Press Book but actually showed up on the test?-Michael Palmer

Michael.J.Palmer Member Posts: 407 ■■■□□□□□□□WGU just recently started offering those videos to people studying for the 70-680. Tom Carpenter also did the Sec+ videos for Onlinexpert but I didn't watch very much of it. There's not much of a choice of what videos to watch as none of the major providers have any out yet.
Yeah, so far it's informative but I'm just worried that where he'd rather go over the GUI of a configuration, the test will want you to know the cmd line switches for it instead. I guess that's why I've got the MS Press Book as well though, lol.
The cool part is when I start to study for the A+ afterwards (which will probably be a piece of cake after the past three exams I've taken) is that they've got Mike Meyers in videos up there explaining the A+ material. From what I hear, it's his books you want to buy for that material anyways, so that may save me some money for the time being.-Michael Palmer

@veritas libertas - Do you have enough links there yet? I noticed the easy transfer link for windows Vista thrown in there. I had noticed before when using it on my wifes PC that it hadn't really changed between Vista and 7.
A lot of what you learn for 7 will really come in handy for the Server 2k8 courses you'll be taking later. Some for the 70-642 and some more for the 70-643.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -
