VTP V2 question
I have 2950 switch and a fresh reload. I do the following
S2#show vtp status
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 128
Number of existing VLANs : 5
VTP Operating Mode : Server
VTP Domain Name : home
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Disabled
Now the question is since VTP version says it is running 2 why does
VTP V2 Mode say disable?
THanks for any help.

Mode Disabled means it's currently running v1. -

Exactly what he said.
By default, switches use V1....so you have to enable version 2. -
billscott92787 Member Posts: 933That definitely was in the CCNA materials . But +2 for the reasoning above. Enable using vtp version 2 command. Then when you check VTP status you should see
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 1
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 255
Number of existing VLANs : 5
VTP Operating Mode : Server
VTP Domain Name :
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Enabled
VTP Traps Generation : Disabled
