TS: Windows 7 and Office 2010, Deploying
Just got the beta invite for this one. It counts as a client exam for the MCITP:EA but I bet it will eventually be a partner requirement for MS packaged service like the 624 Vista version was before it. Registration opens next week and the beta period will be in July. Looks like there is some overlap between this and the 686 so I may take both the same day.
Anyone else plan on taking this?

We are deploying Windows 7 + Office 2010 next year.
I'm studying for 70-680 and 70-685 at the moment, may be I will go for this + 70-686 early next year. -

Claymoore Member Posts: 1,637Monday. I updated my SME profile a few weeks ago to include Office 2010 experience. I have also passed 624 and 680 so that may make a difference. The 624 wasn't very popular so I doubt the 681 will fill up from invites alone.

Hyper-Me Banned Posts: 2,059I dont have office experiences listed in my SME (i dont think), but i know it clearly states Windows 7 deployment and I have passed 680 and 686.

MentholMoose Member Posts: 1,525 ■■■■■■■■□□I received the invite via email last week, and registered a couple hours ago. The website was giving errors, so I called and was registered in about 10 minutes. I'm scheduled for July 24.MentholMoose

However I can understand the Promo Code part .
Is it legal?, will I have issues wit M$ if I pass the Beta exam without having an invitation? -
Claymoore Member Posts: 1,637I scheduled both 681 and 686 for July 23rd. I was trying to schedule these around a partner class on delivering Windows 7 Jumpstart engagements - I figure the free training can't hurt. Of course my recent Windows 7 pilot deployment expereince helps even more.
I'll get started on a resource guide this week, but if you want to begin studying early, check out Hyper-Me's 686 sticky. -

Cool! I might have to check this out if I have time in the coming months...
Since there is a trial version of 2010 I might be able to cram for it.

Hyper-Me Banned Posts: 2,059Got signed up for the 24th. I could never get anyone at MSL to respond so I had to use "unofficial" channels to get the code.
There are at least a few people at MSL who really shouldnt have a job. Its only getting worse. -

Hyper-Me, I see that you have taken this route .. any advise on this : -
DThomassen Member Posts: 6 ■□□□□□□□□□The Search goes to an MS website and is also referenced from the Born to learn website forums. If a MS employee publishes the information, who am I to turn down the invite, especially if I accurately list my experience with the products under test at the start of the exam.

You are forbidden from publishing the code, but they say nothing about using the code without invitation.

aaronchristenson Member Posts: 261 ■■■■□□□□□□B2L just posted this on their site and I was able to get registered for July 24th. I hope by then I will have a good understanding of the Office 2010 part of the exam. When I did the beta for 70-680 I missed passing by 3 questions or so. I remember getting a 640. This would make me one closer to finishing the EA track. I will still need 70-647.Aaron

aaronchristenson Member Posts: 261 ■■■■□□□□□□How do you guys plan on practicing for this exam? I do not have enough hardware to setup a test of deploying Windows 7 using Lite Touch, Zero touch, or upgrades. I do not think that there is enough time to setup VMs either.Aaron

There is plenty of time to setup VMs for the deployment stuff. What is needed, maybe two servers? That's 2-4 hours max, depending on your hardware. You can do a simple Windows 7 install (1 hour) and use that as the base for doing image captures, etc., and build a few empty VMs (5 minutes) for deployment targets.MentholMoose
