Passed BCMSN on 6/30
I'm mostly a lurker here but wanted to share my success and brief test experience. This was my first attempt and first professional level exam.
Material used:
INE BCMSN videos
Official Self Study Guide
Official Lab Portfolio
Quick Reference Guide
Catalyst 3560 Configuration Guide on cisco.com
Started studying after passing CCNA in June 2009 and have been on/off since. Started 3-8 hours a day about 4 weeks before test.
Test was pretty straight forward. My main recommendation would be to read the whole configuration guide. But do look at and understand a few things from the 6500. Mainly NSF, SSO, etc.
As with others, the exam locked up and crashed on me. I'm not sure what the conditions were for others but for me it was after issuing a spanning-tree command in a sim. The proctor moved me to another machine and, of course, none of my work on the sim was saved.
Next up is ROUTE with a little CCNA Voice thrown into the mix. ROUTE is going be my primary focus though.
Material I'm going to use for ROUTE:
INE ROUTE videos
Exam Certification Guide
Routing TCP/IP Volumes I and II

I don't think Cisco is going to fix either the BCMSN or the SWITCH simulators at this point.
Now that BCMSN is getting retired, if the exams are still crashing, I have little doubt they will fix the SWITCH sims which from what I've heard, crash as well.
This is absolutely unacceptable.
