ClearOS on Hyper-V
Hi guys
After successfully irritating the Mrs with all my messing around with IT kit at home, constantly dropping the internet connection for her and the kids, I figured I should ask for help before I end up bruised - I don't even know if what I am trying to accomplish is possible so please bear with me on this... I'm still learning Linux and firewalls.
I am trying to configure a ClearOS firewall at home on a virtual machine in Hyper-V. I have installed it and got my 2 nics set up by adding legacy adapters. One for WAN, one for LAN.
I have a Linksys WAG320N router connected to my ISP,
I have connected this to one nic on the hyper-v server (for WAN),
I have connected the other nic on the server to a switch and all other kit is plugged into the switch (LAN).
I am now trying to understand for example if I use another virtual machine how the traffic would go through the firewall - through the LAN interface and out of the WAN interface to head to the gateway. Is this even possible :roll
I have read about bridging and double NAT issues I could run into, but I haven't got that far yet.
I think I have got myself very confused
Just incase, here is my current config:
192.168.0.1 - linksys router
192.168.0.230 - virtual adapter in clearos WAN
192.168.0.231 - virtual adapter in clearos LAN
192.168.0.250 - Physical nic on server connected to router
192.168.0.251 - Physical nic on server connected to switch for LAN connectvity.
