Active ControlSet key is missing in XP
Bokeh
Have a desktop that is getting this error, and cannot repair XP through normal means. I did look up the error, and MS claims they have a fix but do not use it with OEM installed OS. This is exactly what I have, a HP machine.
Anyone have a clue on how to get this machine back online without saying wipe it and start fresh?

Seeing a screenshot would be nice.
What do you have against a fresh install?
Bokeh
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system\config\system
So I throw one in, hit R when the time comes, and get the message that the registry is missing an active controlset key.
