checking out a potential work place

I'm curious, is it bad to go check out a place of possible future employment before applying there? I was thinking about it to get an idea of what the place looks like and see how the employers treat customers. Its a small company that repairs and sell's apple products. I drove by there yesterday and I was tempted to walk in because I have my hair all grown out, looking like osama bin laden. If I do get an interview, I would just cut it off and they might not recognize me...... maybe. I don't want them to think I'm some type of creep or something.

    By all means check it out. Recognition can be a good thing later on. Maybe lose the Obama look first though.

    I'd definitely lose the osama look first and check it out.
    No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

    My family wants alot of the hair on my face and head gone. I let it grow out just to let it grow out :)

    I tried growing my hair out, it didn't work so well. Also tried a beard and couldn't stand it. I guess ever since they shaved my head in Boot 11 yrs ago I never really grew my hair back. I always get it shaved with a 1 on the sides and 2 on top. lol.

    definitely clean yourself up, dress nicely and go in there and check it out / introduce yourself.

    Yeah, now that mines short. I usually get a fade 0 to 2 and it's fairly long on the top - like a 4 or more.

    right now it's 4 on top 1 on the sides.

    I agree. I would say long hair is okay if it's styled correctly. I usually get my hair cut real short before interviews where I feel they're looking for someone who is young and ready to stay the long haul and I keep my hair normal but shapely when I am trying to convey an older, more mature candidate look.
