User.dat and system.dat
I know the registry is made up of these 2 binary files but this is just for the 9x family.
NT/2000/ME and XP have hives which are more complicated. An XP user will still see the forementioned files but they are only there for backward compatibility.
Right or wrong? Just need it clearing in my mind!
Thanks for looking

NT/XP/2k do not contain user.dat, system.dat, or the ME file classes.dat. They use the extensionless files system, software, security, sam, and default, along with the ntuser.dat file.
