Anyone know much about Nortel Phones?!
MAC_Addy
Hi!
I'm having some issues in my office.
Whenever someone calls in from the outside, it rings on every phone!!
I haven't done too much on phone systems before, so I don't want to break anything.
Does anyone know what commands or options I have to setup just so it'll ring at the Front Desk phone only.
Any help is much appreciated.

What Nortel PBX you got? Also what version is the software on the PBX?

The phones are T7316E's. They're regular phone lines not IP phones. I'm not entirely sure where to find the PBX version.

How comfortable are you on programming routers and switches, a pbx is a dumbed down switch with its own unique commands. Most of the them I have programmed are very intuitive and easy the hard part is finding the commands.
Can you get into the pbx by laptop and post the config file?
Also how big is the system is it a simple 4 to 10 phone office system or is it a 200 phone pbx?

I'm comfortable with configuring switches and routers.
The phone system we have is just a simple 10 phones.
I have looked at the PBX in the wiring closet and the only connection I see to connect my laptop will be a regular RJ-11.
I'm guessing I'd use hyper terminal to connect to it?

I think programming this PABX is done through the telephone set.
try pressing

and see what happens.

Yeh I've been through most of the options that way.
But the code for mine is slightly different.
I see there's a group setting in our phones, maybe if I put everyone apart from the front desk in that group...?

Sorry I can not advise on that, the last time I worked on one of these PABX's was more than 1 year back.

Well I figured it out.
It was just a case of looking up each individual on the phones, accessing their line assignments and changing the phone to appear only on selected lines.
