It seems that Comptia has partnered with the Certification Partners to create/re-imagine the CTP+ certification. Because of overlapping content, I imagine the Convergence+ cert will go away...

Cool! I figured this is where they would be going with most of their less known certifications.

Good to see CompTIA partnered up. I looked on the CompTIA site about this
CTP+ Certified | Powered by Certification Partners
The strangest thing I found was that at the bottom right it limks you to CIW. I'm glad to see that as it gives CIW more visibility and our CIW certs a little more value.
Does anyone think CompTIA may partner up with CIW in the future?
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

Probably. I also think the "storage plus" is going to be the SCSP. I think comptia is going to eventually become the defacto vendor neutral certification organization (besides security like SANS, etc).

Since it's about storage then do some reading here Storage Certifications - TechExams.net IT Certification Forums

Their not grandfathering in current Convergence+ or CTP holders into the new program. Their basically invalidating those current certs by creating the CTP+.

Comptia has really been up to some shenanigans, lately!

I understand some of their reasoning, but I refuse to pursue any otheir certifications after the Project+.

I don't trust them any longer.

Where can i get some books or guides to study for this exam?

I checked ebay and amazon but there is nothing there.

At one time there was a CTP manual put out before they combined with CompTIA but it seems to have disappeared. I did find this bit of information though Convergence+ Becomes CTP+ | Tom Carpenter's Blog. He was the one who wrote the Convergence+ book from McGraw Hill.

Oh and being a current Convergence+ holder I call shenanigans :)

The comparison to the material is close. But TYPICALLY Cisco's certifications are usually held in higher regard.
