No interviews for 6 months... now tons

loxleynewloxleynew Member Posts: 405
Funny how things work. Is the economy picking up? Just for those of you out there looking for jobs just saying this to hopefully lift your spirits. I applied for so many jobs now and for the first 6 months I had 1 interview and that's it. Now within the last week Ive had:

4 interviews(all with different companies)
1 job offer(declined)
3 more in the process of going further

So for those of you who are down about not getting interviews it may just turn around tomorrow or next week. I was pretty depressed for quite a while and now feeling a lot better!

I think it is picking up. I also think it has something to do with your confidence. With all of this going on there is that extra spring in your step and you are reeling them in.

    Congrats

Wow that's kind of a dick move. AND yes, I am going to neg you for that. Ok your lucky that I can't.

    @Ipconfig

It could be an experience thing or it could be the way you are presenting yourself. Have you ever done mock interviews?

Same thing here. I've had 3 interviews already this week, 1 tomorrow morning, and possibly another coming up after that. It's all been really sudden. I barely heard a peep for months and now I can barely keep up with all the interviews. I'm definitely not complaining though. :)

    and your grammar sucks.

Same here, I always seem to get steady amount of interviews if I apply for a job.

However, I've had a surge in being contacted for higher level contracting positions.

Yes, I got a job last month. but now, calls are keep coming in. I had 3-4 phone calls last week about new oppurtunities. So I think the economy is picking up.

when i was unemployed it was a more of rollercoster that a straight stream, some days I would get call after call and go on 2-3 interviews a week and other times I wouldnt hear from anyone for weeks.....my best advice is to never get to high and never get to low......find a happy medium and then get has high as you want when you get the job....not literally you know what i meant

Trying to be funny is one thing but that's more like a personal attack on someone you don't even know. To top it off you don't even understand how to use proper grammar. The contraction of you are is spelled you're not your, your is a possessive pronoun.
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

Yea it's hard to find that medium. I know there's a good chance that all 3 might not pan out and i'll be stuck where I was BUT Id rather hope that at least 1 works out. At this point i'm getting underpaid by 20k doing what I do and getting married soon, so life is rough financial wise. I hope one works out!

I turned it down because the company seemed unstable and the job responsibilities were unrealistic. So get a payday at 60k for 2 months before getting fired or not was the choice lol.

Nice things might be turning around. I was putting my resume together but we will have to see what happens with the position at my present job :)

The job market does seem to be picking up in my area. I was in much the same boat as I had an interview about 6 months ago and have not had a nibble again until a couple days ago. I've definitely been putting out far more resumes in the last couple weeks then I had in quite a while.

Hopefully something will come of all these resumes I've put out or from the short phone interview I had today or the email I received yesterday asking for some further information. Luckily I have a job right now so the search hasn't been overly stressful. I'm just ready to get back into IT even though I realize it will likely be back in on the ground floor as an entry level help desk tech.

Hopefully the upswing in open positions is not just a coincidence and a matter of timing but an indication of a more long term trend!

What neck of the woods are you in? I notice Texas seems to have plenty of jobs, while there's pretty slim pickings on the West Coast.

Yea I currently have a job but am underpaid by a ton for what I do. That's mainly the only reason I turned down the one job because while I don't have much money I do have a little bit of luxury in finding a new job. Even though my current job they fire people left and right for no reason it's stressful...

I live in Colorado. Seems like job market here at least is turning around for the good.
