Any CiscoWorks gurus in the house?

We recently upgraded our content switches to ACE blades in our 6500 chassis's's's (what's the plural of chassis anyway?)... a really cool product, by the way. Had to get a handle on the MFP in a hurry... nothing but class maps and policy maps.

Anyway, I digress. We use CiscoWorks to backup configs of all our cisco gear. I cannot get the ACE's to play nice. I was able to add the device okay in DCR, inventory collection in RME was good... when I try to select any of the ACE blades in RME to Sync Archive, they're unavailabe (grayed out). When I run a Credential Verification Report on any ACE, I get "Device Not Supported" for everything (ie, Read Community, Telnet, SSH).

Because of failing credentials, I cannot get the config backed-up. Of interest though... in Device Center, I can select Telnet from the Tools category and telnet to the device. It just looks like CW can't do it on its own.

Any thought appreciated.
Mike

Have you looked into upgrading RME? You might have an older version that does not support the ACE modules.

Me? Famous? I wish. Haven't even had my 15 minutes yet. *sigh* And at 41, I'm just about half way through the course. Still hopeful, though. I still think one day I'm going to run across Jennifer Aniston somewhere, and she's gonna decide to give me a whirl, and that'll end up being one of the best moves she ever makes. "shrug" It could happen!

What about you? Anything new/exciting? And hey, know anything about CiscoWorks and ACE modules? hehe

Good call, however, the newest version is 4.3.1. We're running 4.2.1. The readme for 4.3 includes support for a bunch of cat switches, but nothing regarding the ACE's. I'll do the upgrade tonight anway, but I don't think that's it.

Bummer, I was hoping it was a quick fix. When I deployed our ACE modules last year we just went with an ANM server. But it cannot perform automated backups.

I LOVE ANM... but yeah, it's all about the automated backups at our shop. Checkpoints are cool enough, but getting to do config compares... priceless.

Yeah, I have grown to like ANM. I find it more useful now that our ACE configs have grown rather large. We have 11 virtual contexts and several hundred virtual servers configured. ANM just makes it all easier to manage.

But, I have always been a fan of the CLI. I had to do all of the CSS to ACE migrations so I had no choice but to learn MPF. Now it's really helping me with my Cisco studies. I'm able to draw associations with other devices that use it.
