I know Microsoft often include full PDFs with their textbooks. And Apress allow you to but an ebook version for $10 if you have the print edition and can answer a random question on the book (APRESS.COM | Books for Professionals, by Professionals ... if you don't know )
Does anyone know of other publishers who offer an ebook for free / heavily discounted rate?
I like an ebook to read on the train, but it's good to have a hard copy at work for reference. Plus I really hate buying ebooks for almost the cover price of the hardcopy (or even more when you look at the play / amazon seller prices).
A lot of publishers have signed up to the safari books online, but I'd rather avoid a subscription model if possible.
Any pointers appreciated.

Do Sybex include the pdfs on the CDs with the print copy of books, or just offer a pdf version for purchase? I'm looking at SQL Server 2008 Administration: Real-World Skills for MCITP Certification and Beyond Exams 70-432 and 70-450: Amazon.co.uk: Tom Carpenter: Books in particular, but I guess that it'll be a consistent approach by the company.
Thanks

The last one I bought for the 70-291 did not have a CD/eBook.
It wasn't much of a book anyway! I could have done without it.Pain Gauge - my electro-industrial music project -
Devilsbane Member Posts: 4,214 ■■■■■■■■□□I like to read the ebooks at work when there is nothing to do. I am allowed to study, but don't want some management to walk by and question why I have a textbook open. Plus I don't have to worry about forgetting it in the morning.
What troubles me is that I like to highlight. So part of the book gets highlighted but the other part doesn't.Decide what to be and go be it. -

The SQL book does include a PDF version. I use it on my Kindle. I have not opened the hard copy but a few times. -

Thanks Robert - very handy to know. Depending on how I get on with the other books, I'll be grabbing this as well. My reader of choice is the iPad - a little ostentatious, but still very cool
You'd think they'd want to highlight the fact that they include an ebook as a selling point wouldn't you? Although I guess it might hurt the kindle ebook sales...
And thank you to everyone else who has replied. It's all very helpful information.
