OSPF Design Recomendation
Hey guys, i have the following issue with a client and i would like to know your opinion or recommendation.
Scenario:
(Foundry)Switch A ---10gig Link to a (OSPF cost 1)(Foundry)Switch B
1GigLink from Switch A to Switch C////////1GigLink from siwtch B to SWitch D
(Cisco) Switch C---20gig link to a (OSPF cost 2)----(Cisco) Switch D
Config:
We are running OSPF Area 0 in this scenario every link has default cost except the link between Switch C and Switch D thats cost 2.
The problem is that the link between Switch A and Switch C gets saturated at certain amounts of the day (hits 100% of utilization) at the same time the link between switch B and Switch D hits 10%, the goal would be to balance the traffic so that link between Switch A and Switch C doesnt get full utilization.
I Cant change the links between Switch A and Switch C to ten gig, the only posible changes is in configuration
What i have thought is to change the cost between Switch A and Switch C to 4 and change the cost between Siwtch C and Switch D to 1 that way i think it would send some packets tru Switch D and Switch B and some tru SWitch D and SWitch C
