Taking the SECURITY+ test tomorrow morning! I achieved CEH last month and the material seems to complement each other. CEH exam was pretty easy for me, hopefully I am not underestimating the SECURITY+ exam. I have probably gone through over 1500 practice questions over the last 2 weeks, been hitting in the high 80's and low 90's each time!
I have been using the Exam Cram book, Sybex, Skillsoft CBTs, MeasureUp practice questions and this web site.

Good luck on your test!No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

Seriously, when I saw those initials, I really did wonder what was so special about the Division of Motor Vehicles. (I saw someone posted that they were from the DMV in the WGU communities....I was like wth?!)
DMV.....lmao! Prior to August 2010, I have never heard of that region referred to as such....lol. -

Wow already?! Congrats!! How long did you sit for the exam and what time did it start? -

Funny that you say that, it was the only book I used for the exam
@OP: Congratz on the pass! -

You must have taken that test at the crack of dawn. I usually take my tests at about 1 PM as I get a good nights sleep, eat a good breakfast and lunch, and have the morning to do some light review over things I should have memorized for the test.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -
MikeRider3 Registered Users Posts: 5 ■□□□□□□□□□Exam was at 9, took about 40 minutes. Probably only marked three for review. Completing the C|EH exam and boot camp last month helped alot with the Security+ exam and studying.
Most of the questions were one line - direct questions. Nothing too indepth. Know your IDS types and cryptography!
Oh yea, a common test taking tip - GO WITH YOUR GUT INSTINCT! Spending too much time on one question will lead to second guessing yourself and selecting the wrong answer! -

I took mine at 9:00 too when I scheduled and was done in 50 minutes.
Definitely agree with your last couple of sentences....
Once again, my congratulations! Welcome to the club!! -

Might as well like myself cause you know after this year, you will have to retest every 3 years..and this is why I am going to knock out the security + next month.... -

Darril will break down Cryptography is a very easy and logical manner. The Sybex practice guide was ok, in that regard, but Darril made crypto "click" for me......it was all stuff that I was doing/using, but just had problems with the academics of it. Now it's part of my personal knowledge base...
You'll be fine! The IDS stuff, just know the difference between a HOST based and a Network Based and what types are you dealing with and when do you use which type (e.g. signature, behavior-based, etc., etc.).
As I said, you'll be fine! -
