Thanks...I'm shooting for end of year to be done with this...but it has to happen by before the middle of January...otherwise, I'll have to do a lot of pleading and begging to be a part of WGU's commencement. So far though...it's looking like I'll have a good time with 643, but I'll see how that goes.

As I don't know the WGU class shorthand (Yet) looking at your sig I see 4 left. Are the remaining classes difficult?

Thanks, brother. Hoping 643 can be done a little before Halloween.

Well, the classes are red signify MCITP:EA classes. Others use red in their sig to signify WIP, though in my case it was always to separate the EA from my other classes. Technically, everything is WIP in my case now as I'm at the end of my term.

I know the 680 is going to be my beast...I'm going to have to treat the 680 with respect and get every tool at my disposal for that one....

643 I can't see it as hard (personally), as now I'm getting into Applications....IIS, Sharepoint, etc. Now I can really start playing with them in my lab....(yay!) But I didn't even want to bother with 640 and 642 hanging over my head.

647 from what I understand is gonna bring everything home. I will still be taking it before 680....as I'm gonna need some number of days to pass it in one shot. Failing the 640 left a bad taste in my mouth.

Then finally I have capstone. I'll be finishing that up if not tomorrow, hopefully by end of next week.

    Then I'm done. :)

Posting this from the phone...PASSED 70-642! A good lot of RRAS, Radius, DFS, command line tools. The longest wait ever, but I got a 780 for my trouble. :) Now I can finish up my Capstone and start on the 643. We're on track. Will do the update to my list and sig when I get home. What helped me pass was technet and the MS Press book, 2nd edition. Now I will use Books 24x7 for the remainder.
Congrats on the good score on a tough exam!

Indeed....the subnetting questions were not cake, but I was able to get through them. I have been studying this thing for litterally months just to get ready for passing. The other exams should be good now, as that will be more application knowledge, a culmination of knowledge and O/S knowledge.

I've been playing with VirtualBox for my guests....now I will be getting deep into Hyper-V. :) I'm very excited!

Thanks to all again! I really mean that.

do you use the books and labsim or just labsim?

do you use the books and labsim or just labsim?

Mostly books...in my case it was the MS Press Book 2nd Edition. Earlier it was the Sybex guide (The 70-640, 70-642, and 70-643 one). I had to supplement this with Technet, for sure. I also used some labs that were given to me.

Labsim, by itself will not get anyone to pass these exams. That goes with any CBT product. You gotta read, lab then read again. It's not impossible, but it can be a bit stressful. I did use the uCertify test prep to give me an idea, but for MS, they can give you a false sense of security.

I am very determined to get these exams knocked out by December/January at the latest. I've been putting a lot of time with Books 24x7 in that endeavor as the MS Press second edition books are all available there (all of them. :) )

    thanks

ive found the ms press books are hard to read (dry) ive choaked down most of the 70-642 book

i also found the sybex book, i havent read much of it yet but i will be reading the sections i need

what i found most helpful was to read the sections in the ms press book then watch the videos after (only the talking ones not the walk through ones) then test

Certain stuff like NAP I would read about on the MS Press book and then look it up on Technet. I wanted to understand "the Microsoft way." Labsim just glossed over the topic and it was just better to read about the subject on Technet. I did use your LabSim method for Security+ before I concentrated on Darril's book to deal with cryptography. Darril just made that subject click.

That 642 sticky really helped me out.

Were you able to find the current 2011 (R2) edition of the MS-Press book for 70-640 on Books24x7? I found 642, 643 & 647 but I could only find the 2009 edition for 70-640 icon_sad.gif

Wow you're right. The Sybex W2K8 R2 Guide is on Books 24x7, but since I failed using it, I can't recommend it. I didn't fail with the MS Press Books, however. YMMV...

I do have the physical books MS PRess books for 70-640 and 70-642. I will be using Books 24x7 for the remainder.

70-680 I MIGHT buy, but I gotta see.

    (Sigh....)

I had to post this in the Windows 7 forum....but suffice it to say I did pass the 70-680!!

I will be going back to studying for the 70-643...in truth, I'm just wrapping up....I'm gonna sit for it in two weeks...three tops!

    http://www.techexams.net/forums/windows-7-exams/71307-70-680-passed.html

Three-fifths of the way there to knocking out both a longtime career goal AND graduating college......man I'm seriously choked up right now.

I have been away for a long time, I'm glad that you passed three exams while I was away good job.

Welcome back!! I was wondering what happened to you. How has work and life in the KSA been treating you?

I already have my dates set for the remaining exams....it is my hope that by December, I'm done with all of my exams.

Well...2nd MS fail. I did not pass the 643. I was amazed at how much Media Services questions I got asked. In truth I spent such little time on them, because I figured it was no different than Server 2003 (which I did have experience in when I had to broadcast certain speeches once a year...though it was that long ago....lol).

Well, I'm hitting that back up and I'll be ready for round two this coming week. Seriously gonna go back to that chapter, read and lab the crap out of Media Services, and then take it this week. Hopefully this doesn't burn me on the stuff I was already comfortable with, like Sharepoint and IIS.

I'm so mad, but there's nothing I can do about it except hit the books and lab try again in a couple of days (when WGU gives me another voucher. I did want to take it tomorrow, but Prometric won't let me, since I'm still pending in the system.) I'm probably better off...
