Went along to my Test Centre (40 miles drive) this morning to sit test at 8.15am, so got there at 7.45am as recommended by Prometric.
No sign of any staff until 8.15, one staff member arrived but did not have a key.
Waited until 10.30am in the hope that keyholder would turn up - no luck so went home.
Had phonecall from the centre at 12.30 but I was at home then. Apologetic key-holder(who had over-slept his alarm clock) offered me the chance to try again in the afternoon or evening.
Took up the offer and drove the 40 miles again and sat the exam at around 4.30pm
RESULT - PASS with 775 YIPPEE
This is an important milestone for me to achieve the MCITP:SA on my 4th attempt.
(previously got 550,550,650), especially as I'm an old timer (51).
No immediate plans on any further exams (EA?) but I may look at Hyper-V in more detail
as we are using it now at work.
The following book got me over the finish line: the Sybex book Amazon.com: MCITP: Windows Server 2008 Server Administrator Study Guide: (Exam 70-646) (9780470293157): Darril Gibson
I also made notes of where I thought I went wrong in previous attempts and reviewed the weak areas. Several transcender tests and Sybex book practice test done recently too.
Also thanks to whoever recently provided the following link:
InformIT: Test-Taking Skills Clinic Exam 70-640: Window Server 2008 AD Config (Video) (Test-Taking Skills Clinic Exam 70-640: Window Server 2008 AD Config Video) - this helped me narrow down some difficult choices.
Big thanks to those on here that have provided encouragement and some exam tips.
I'm now celebrating with a GUINNESS

What areas of Hyper-V are you looking at? Are you planning to get any certs in it?No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

Thanks.
Just server virtualization for now - need to know a bit more, who knows regarding possible exam in the future - ordered a couple of books to get me going:
1) "Mastering Microsoft Virtualization: Using Hyper-V, Terminal Services, and SoftGrid"
Tim Cerling; Paperback; £20.45
2) "MCTS Self-Placed Training Kit (Exam 70-652): Configuring Windows Server Virtualization Book/CD Package"
Danielle Ruest; Paperback; £7.98 - surprisingly cheap on amazon.co.uk -

Maybe that extra morning drive through the countryside was just what you needed to put you in the correct frame of mind for an afternoon drive in the countryside/exam combo:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -

'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird? -

Its a fair exam. not overly difficult but very wide ranged. does not go deep into each topic but you need to cover all the exam objectives from MS closely.
As others have said its not a configuration exam, more of a what tool do i use for this job thing.
The exam format is very straightforward - 40 multiple choice in 90 minutes.
I just found the style of questions a bit different (which tool to use rather than how to).
Practice tests, sybex, transcenders and ms press (measureup) helped, mainly transcender.
You just need a broad knowledge of the topics covered in the exam objectives.
Best of luck -

Thanks a lot, that's fair enough I do have good knowledge on most of the topics so I hope I'll do just fine.
