I think 70-620 is the easiest to do

TS: Configuring Microsoft Windows Vista Client

And it's not expiring that soon

The Vista test would give him a MCT not a MCP. What direction do you want to go? Once you figure that out, take the first test in the series.

As a suggestion, you could take the two tests for MCDST. One test gives you the MCP, and the second one will give you MCDST.

An MCTS is an MCP, or at least that's the gist of what I've heard. If you are an MCP you still are and if you are MCTS then you are an MCP as well. A colleague has sat the Vista exams and says it is more like a sales exam, but Windows 7 might be more useful in the job market.

It's confusing, but no, that's not exactly correct. From MCTS Certification | MCTS Training | Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist:
The term MCP is used both as a general term for all Microsoft Certified Professionals and as the name of a credential. As an MCTS, you become part of the Microsoft Certified Professional community, with access to all related benefits, information, and activities. You do not earn a credential titled "MCP." You should use the MCTS credential on your resume and in business collateral, thereby indicating your specialty and that you are a member of the MCP community at large.

Gets you access to the MCP website, but doesn't give you the MCP credential.
Decide what to be and go be it.

There is no MCP any more (I think) and I don't recommend doing 70-270 (XP exam) because it doesn't count taward MCITP so there is no point in taking it besides it's retiring soon.

I was looking at going for the windows 7 one but not many people seem to have done this one yet Win 7 70-685 and 686 one of them looks interesting but not sure if its worth doing

I've done the 70-680 it was a nice exam not hard but not easy and 7 itself is full of new features so if you want my opinion you should go for it first.

The only bad thing is that the book I used was full of mistakes so you should ask about this issue.

70-620 from what i heard is just a silly exam.

I agree with the 70-680. It's not too hard if you're familiar with Vista/7, and counts towards several MCITPs and even the older MCSA/E.

    Easy is relative.

What type of MS products are you familiar with?

1 - exam yields the MCP, but as mentioned it MCT now.

Generally, one of the OS exams would be thought of as 'easy', but you may find AD easy and desire to go with one of those exams.

If you are bothering to take one exam, plan on taking the series so at least it counts for something. An MCP or MCT alone isn't much more than recogniztion for having taken and passed at least 1 exam.

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?

So the meaning of an MCP has changed from a credential to a community. It's still much of a muchness.

No. MCP is a credential you earn if you pass one of the MCP era exams suchas 70-290, 70-270, etc. There has always been an MCP community. The only thing that has changed is the credential that new exams earn. The new exams earn you the MCTS.
