Use Cisco 877 with out ADSL port

Hi
I have a spare Cisco 877 ADSL router that is no longer needed as we upgraded one of our Internet connections from a 3.5/0.8mbs adsl line to a WIMAX 12/2mbs connection.
The wimax connection has a inbuilt WAP that terminates into a billlion router. The billion router is doing the pppoe authentication on its incoming wan port and provides 4 lan ports.
I would much prefer to utilise the Cisco router instead of the Billion, and have tried to modify the config/dialler to use one of the ethernet ports instead of the DSL port with no success.
I did spot a thread someone on the net that indicated the 877 will not support pppoe on a ethenet port, is this correct?
Does anyone think this will work. If so I am happy to post my config if you guys can see a fault in my "limited" cisco programming skills
