Cisco announces new Voice Professional Certification (CCVP)

"Cisco announces a new voice-professional-level certification, CCVP. The new CCVP certification validates the ability of an individual to install, configure, operate, and support complex IP telephony/voice-over-IP (VoIP) networks and applications. The CCVP courses and exams provide a comprehensive curriculum focused on Cisco CallManager, quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, and voice applications and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches."

Cisco is always on top of the game when it comes to certifications. Most companies now are moving to IP Telephony. This certification will hold a great value for the upcoming years. My company right now has the Cisco 6509 switches in all the IDF closets in preparation to deploy VoIP. I think people will start trying to obtain this cert in the upcoming months.

Wow, it takes 6 exams to get this cert!! I feel a lot of studing is in order for this one!

i read the news on email. makes me a little bit fuzzy. i currently worked on a reseller, have to practice a lot on BCRAN, MPLS, VPN stuff and VoFR,VoIP, VoATM and SS7, and the worst is confused about how to integrate all these things CCNP/CCIP/CCSP/CCVP etc. with MCSA/MCSE...

and RHCE??

I groaned when I saw this. Why? Because it's more tests I have to take. Cisco getting to be as bad as Microsoft.

Anyway, I had a feeling this was coming. Voice is becoming too important. I guess this'll be a fun little sidetrack on my way to CCIE

well, this makes it more interesting.. something else to do while working the ccnp track

wow well as expected, i was told this 3 years ago when it was relatively new technology and that all the carriers where moving to do everything through MPLS that this would become more standard as we all can tell VOIP is going to be the best thing that happened to phone system outside of call waiting and caller ID..

Damn!!! 6 exams, it's only good for 2 years.....to recertify, you have to retake the current version of all the exams again, or just go pass any CCIE written exam....hmmmm.....

How does this VO-ip cert compare to what Avaya do? I believe they are quite big in this field?

cisco has alot to offer but vs avaya ... avaya's stuff is almost everywhere and finding ppl that are good in it is hard its like nortel.. when they find those techs that know it they keep them and pay them well

I live in Argentina & here we have not CCVP. somebody has any idea of where i can get the study materials of CCVP or something like that?

If there are already books available, you can probably order them online and have them delivered. You can check the index of a book online, which usually provides a good overview of the exam topics, in addition to the exam objectives. Regardless, www.cisco.com provides all the information you need.

Do you have access to relevant equipment?

I don´t think so. in fact i want to study ccvp but i don´t have idea of what can i do that because in Argentina this course is not dictated. you tell in cisco.com i can get all information about curricullum for example?

If you follow the link I posted in the first post in this topic, www.cisco.com/go/ccvp you will see a list of required exams that you need to pass to become a CCVP. When you click on one of these exams you will be rewarded with a fairly detailed overview of the exam topics:

Most, probably all of these listed exam topics can be found at www.cisco.com. Usually a lot more information and a lot more detailed than you need at first, but if there aren't any books yet, the online documentation is the first place to look.
