I didnt know there was an app for that. I didnt buy the ebook version at all. I just stuck with the physical book, which I barely studied.

Actually....I'm going to leave that one alone.... icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Well im through Chap 4, going to start 5 today. I just did Network+ recently so when I saw chapter 3 was all networking I just skipped right to the chapter questions and scored an 86% (and that's only because i went to fast and missed one question as having multiple answers, the question was one that i did know and rightfully should have gotten). You REALLY have to read the question, like REALLY, I find i get into a groove of answering and i'll fly right over the (Choose all that apply), or the (Choose two) that sit at the end. Will end up screwing me.

So far though, excellent book, I'm really glad I got it.

Test is scheduled for Sept 4th.

With that logic it could have been December too.... :)

Good luck on the exam! (Like you'll need it....)

Well, LIFE happened, a family member passed, and a few other things and I'm not where I want to be, I think I will be pushing it back a week, but that should be it.

Sorry to hear that. It's ok to take some time off but it is really easy to take too much time off, so be careful.
Decide what to be and go be it.

Yeah I know, thats why i figured one week would be good enough, i dont plan on it being like black8router's trek, as I do want to get it done before the end of the year to seal in my trifecta (tri-force?) as permanent before 2011.

No dude, family is always #1. If you have to even take more time, won't be a bad deal, as you want to make sure you concentrate on the exam.

Just do what you have to do; 12/31/2010 as of this post isn't here yet.

I just ordered Darril's book via amazon prime (free 2 day shipping, woot woot) so I will be studying in no time!"

It's required that I get Sec+ before the end of the year for my new job as a DoD contractor! :)

Yeah I suppose you are right, Ive already postponed it to next friday, though now I dont know if I will make even that, again i still want the pressure of the date scheduled bearing down on me to motivate the studying, but I shouldn't forgo family visitations during this time just for the exam, and vice versa. i'll consider rescheduling again and perhaps pushing it back another few days or another week.

It'll be ok...just be with your family and then you can try for either next Friday or heck, even the end of the month. You just don't want a tragic loss to be the reason you missed a question or two. After a respectable time has passed, you can pick up where you left off I'm sure.

I'm going through a similar issue myself (dealing with a burnt down house). Between insurance, contractors, getting rent paid in the meantime, work, etc., etc., it is a very time consuming ordeal...and it took away from my 70-642 studying. By Friday/this weekend, I should be back in the groove. I even had to take a separate exam on "Problem Solving and Critical Thinking...." I passed that, but man was my mind elsewhere.....

Mind you, that doesn't compare to a death in the family...(as no one was hurt), but the best laid plans in the world sometimes doesn't help for moments like these.

Just wanted to reiterate how awesome this book is. So far I'm 300 pages in and have learned a LOT in such a short amount of time. I was studying for Network+ with Myers AIO and put that on hold as this is a much better read for me. Darril breaks it down so it's easy to comprehend! Gonna finish the book this week and then gotta get my boss to order me a voucher!

As an update on my trek, i am taking the test tomorrow morning, im just sitting here reviewing some of the areas i missed on the final exam. Got an 88% on the final, up from 63% on the pre-assessment, probably will skim the 3 chapters i was weak in, 4, 7 and of course 9 and get a good nights sleep. I don't have to take the exam til 9am so that will be sleeping in for me, and I'll have lots of time in the morning for breakfast and light review. Hope to post a pass tomorrow morning.

Good luck! Just finished up chapter 5 earlier myself. Currently out of work so i've got nothing but time to study. Will more than likely finish the book Sunday at the pace i'm going. Should finish up Labsim Saturday. Plan to sit the test Tuesday afternoon, provided my funding comes through.

Thanks man, yeah HUGE weight off my shoulders. I sat down and the first question I was stumped on, I'm like oh great this is going to go swimmingly. But the next like 15 were stuff I knew well and I flew through the test.

Sorry about the abrupt announcement above, but I went straight to work after the exam and it was absolutely slammed, I barley had time to get logged in before i was berated with issues.

I'm not sure what's next on the adjenda as far as certs go, I kind of want to go the security route and maybe stake that as my niche at my job, but I'm not sure yet.

    Me too

With work and a potential job change and kids I am only realitically looking at getting Sec + at the dead line. And that will be with only 5 weeks of studying maybe only 4 so it will be cutting is close. I am wondering if it is worth the time, but I am going for it. I won't have A+ but you can't have it all.

Anyway back to where to go I really don't know. I think I will stop certing and hopefully by then I'll be in a new job learning that instead. Current I am a remote desktop specialist and network analyst, I will be moving on to either a desktop support role, management/supervisor role, or supporting Production systems in a manufacturing environment. Out of those 3 2 of them will require at least 6 month of ramp up time. I think next year I might not even get one certification. I will be all about growing with the company.

Well, the Sec+ is easily doable in 4 weeks with Darril's book. Very doable.
