Anyone else having problems with Realtek HD onboard audio?

Is there anyone else having crackling issues with Realtek HD onboard audio and Windows 7 64-bit?

On my laptop I get occasional "machine-gun" sounding crackling. I first though it was just an isolated issue until tonight when I was on my desktop that has the exact same on-board chip made the exact same sound.

I've read about other people having the same issue, I've tried updating drivers with no luck. I've read another walkaround that I'll try tonight which involves selecting "intermediate mode" in speaker properties.

I hope it's just a Windows7/driver issue.

If anybody has any other walkarounds that they have had success with, feel free to share.
