Hi all,

This is my first post in this forum. i have some query's.

First of all let me tell you my background and what i m plaining to go for. i hope i will get clear my all the doubts.

So, here it is.

1) I have done Bcom, IBM e-commerce and RHCE course. and currently working as system administartor. i m having 2 year experience as network/system administator. speacially on Redhat Linux.

2) I m plaining to do CCNA, CNCP certification. my question is " how is the combination with Linux? i mean Linux+ CCNA+CCNP. I must clear that i have not done MCSE or any Micro$oft certification. and NOT not in mood to do it. i do not want to move to microsoft side.

so, again what about Linux+CCNA+CCNP. before posting this thread i have read many post in this forum about CCNA certification and found this is the place i m looking for. it';s really helpful for me.

third, i can not invest more money, i mean in this forum people talking about http://www.routersim.com and other sites. But this is payable site if i want to download Sim. is there any site where i can download free simulator for both CCNA and CCNP. if there any, please let me know. i will be heighly appriciate for the help.

I am from INDIA. As CCNA and CCNP require more money, if I do this,

1. Which one will help more in getting a new job?
2. Which will pay better? [only Linux, or linux+CCNA,CCNP]

I m plaining to give 1 month for CCNA and i do not know how much months require to do CCNP, but need to know. so please advice me in deepth for the both certification. your help will make me more strong to decide where to move.

also, start gettting working on other platform like, Novell and SUN solaris. so totally on Linux side.

If i do this will this certifications help me for better position in job?

Also, is there any documentation sites where i can download study matrial? i have seen book of Todd Lammle is quite good. but still need require more smiluators.

can any one tell me how many Topics cover in CCNA and CCNP. i mean the index list. [the list of index]

please help me to clear my doubt.

Thanx in adv....

If you study enough then you should be able to pass the CCNA in about two weeks. If you have the right labs/simulators then you should be able to do the CCNP in 2-3 months.

The more you diversify the better off you are, but diversity only goes so far. You should specialize in an area but stay competent with the rest of the IT field.

For me, it paid off to get the certs. My company pays a 500 dollar bonus for the lower level certs and 1500 for the higher level certs. I do not get any raises with each certification but I am always prepared to leave the company or get laid-off.

The following link will help you with the topics lists for each test.

You shouldn't rely on studying only an exam guide. These are pretty limited in content and quality, and should be used only to refresh what you have already studied. Even though they will help you pass the tests they will not get you an indepth understanding of the technology.

With the following links, you should be able to pass all of the Cisco tests without spending a dime. All you need to do is pick a test, collect the topics, then generate a list of shortcuts for each topic.
