Deleting RIP routes from route table

Hi All,
Can you please tell me how to delete a RIP route entry from a route table?
I tried "clear ip route *" from the enabled mode which clears all routes but once I reconfigure the ip address for the interfaces the RIP routes return.

Would it be easier to simply disable RIP altogether?
ie:
Router# no router ripIm a newbie.... please be easy on me. -
