ATM & Dialer Interfaces

Can someone please give mea brief overview of ATM & Dialer Interfaces?

This is purely my own thoughts based on my experiences, and probably isn't 100% accurate. So feel free to correct me if I'm not spot on.

ATM interface is the physical interface; you configure PVC settings and (if using ADSL) operating mode, noise margins, etc.

The dialer is a virtual interface which is used to establish PPP sessions and heaps of other things.

Very simplistic view of it, so hopefully that helps.
