Bokeh Member Posts: 1,636 ■■■■■■■□□□I would check and see if you owe them anything after the training period. There are a few "schools" that claim free CCNA, CCNP, etc but after their training, they find you a job and you owe them like 13-20% of your monthly salary for 12-18 months. Check it out thoroughly, even through Better Business Bureau.

No complaints against them, but at the same time they're not accredited with the BBB. Not having complaints filed against them is always a plus, though. Negative ratings have kept me from dealing with several businesses that have an internet presence. Why don't you call them? You can probably tell if they're scammers within 5 minutes of talking to them.Climb a mountain, tell no one. -
Sounds Good Member Posts: 403i've been doing some research on this institute and it seems legit as far as the school is concerned. the BBB of net-temps isn't the right company to be checked for. i will call them soon howeverOn the plate: AWS Solutions Architect - Professional

i don't know if you HAVE to go with their job placement, but its better than not having a job at all.
heres the important parts of the email that the guy sent me
Hello prospective job seekers,
Thank you so much for the response!
Per Scholas is a non-profit organization that offers a FREE, 15-week A+ Computer Technician Certification Course. However, our company partners (Time Warner Cable, Apple, IBM) are demanding that we provide them with skilled employees as soon as possible. They are not willing to wait the 3 plus months it takes for our regular students to complete this course. As a result, we are offering 2 fast track courses that specifically meet the needs of our employers. Anyone with customer service or IT experience will be considered for immediate placement!
Job Placement Assistance –
Once our students become certified, we provide assistance finding employment within several Fortune 500 Companies. We also refer our graduates to companies such as Canon Business Solutions, CableVision, Apple, and Quest Technologies. The Per Scholas Institute for Technology has been collaborating with corporations such as these since 1996. They demand that these potential employees are to be of the finest caliber, and Per Scholas continues to meet these lofty expectations on a monthly basis. ehnde Member Posts: 1,103Brain dumping is when people take the actual test, memorizing the questions as best as possible and provide you with a list of test questions and answers. People that use brain **** memorize these questions and hope that they get the same questions. People that use brain **** typically do not have the knowledge or skill to pass legitimately or do their jobs. If you pass exams with brain **** and don't develop the skills needed to work in I.T. won't last long on the job - it won't take the employer long to notice their new employee can't do the tasks in their job description.
Basically people that use brain **** are incompetent cheaters.Climb a mountain, tell no one. -

Sounds Good Member Posts: 403well i went to the orientation yesterday and got a pretty good overview of the place. it is an institute that helps people in poor communities get a head start into an IT career. We went into one of the classes in progress and everyone was in business casual (required) and they were learning about computer hardware (RAM). I then had to take a 10th grade math and english test (raped it). i was the only one in the orientation to take the N+ program. The other 2 guys (40-50s) were there for the A+ program (I'm 22 btw).
After i passed the test, i had to fill out an application. the most valuable information they asked of me was the last 4 digits of SSN. they don't ask for credit cards or anything. I then had to write an essay discussing why i should be accepted into the program and what i expect to gain from it.
As far as i can tell, it is a legit program that has been recognized by mayor michael bloomberg and other organizations. i will be scheduled for an interview with them soon to see if i qualify for the program. (this program is for people with either A+ and some experience or people with 1-2 years of experience in IT) i have neither and am basing my skills off what i have acquired over the years.
If i get accepted, i will maybe start a thread containing updates on my progress and my experience there.
@SephStorm, there is one other Per Scholas Institute in Miami as well if you know anyone trying to get into IT.On the plate: AWS Solutions Architect - Professional
