Entry Level IT Security Jobs

I'm graduating with my MS in Computer Science this semester, and I intend to start job hunting later this month. However, this will be my first job and I only have a couple basic certs at this point. I'm working on CEH now, but a lot of the other certs in security that seem popular require more experience (CISSP, CISA, etc), or lots of money to pay for courses (GSEC, GPEN, etc) - neither of which I have without a job!
So where does one start when trying to get into this field? Is it possible to obtain a job performing vulnerability assessments without prior experience or more popular certs? Do I start somewhere else?
I'm just wondering what types of jobs I should even be looking for - never really been on the job search before and so I'm not entirely sure what positions I should look for.
Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Entry level Security positions are tough to come by and many require prior IT experience. Paul Boz and others have said it here before how can you secure something that you don't understand. You need the core Windows or Cisco knowledge before you should jump into security.
To answer your question, I highly doubt anyone will let someone with no experience do a vulnerability assessment on their network. I would begin by searching for either Help Desk roles if you have zero experience in IT. Just found this thread also that might be insightful for you..

Your best bet is for one of the security guys on this forum to weigh in but I think that thread has a lot of good info about getting into Security on it. -

A degree helps, but hands on experience is the key in anything dealing with IT. How can you secure something you never have worked with in a production environment. If it was easy to get into IT security with out experience most of the people on here would have a job in IT security.
