I have taken this exam 4 times and failed every time this is getting ridiculous. first exam 488, 2nd 620, 3rd 466, and 4th 533.
I been studying hard for this exam i used the microsoft Press book which i found to be worthless only aboiut 50% of the material is in there that is from the exam. I also used CBT nuggets. Test King exam questions. also purchased the microsft measure up exams that were no help either. I also found out that i only have 5 tries to pass this exam and then i have to wait a year. The questions were all different everytime i took it, Never had a problem taking my tests in the past i have MCP, MCDST, A+ , Network + passed all those on the first try.

Sorry to hear about that. There seems to be a rash of these 70-680 failures around here. Hate to see it happen but I can totally understand the difficulty given the breadth of material needed to master. Are you rushing your attempts too quickly? Are you documenting the areas that you're weak and hitting those hard?

Why are you using info from Test King? That is a known **** site! You could loose your certifications if MS finds out about it.

    Test King exam questions.

Braindump, don't use it. This is the dark side of the force.

My recommendation is to set up virtual machine instances of Windows 7 and Server 2008R2, go through the Microsoft Press book and don't read the text - just do the labs with your virtual machines. Do every one of the labs.

After you've done all of the labs watch the CBT nugget videos again. If you find yourself going "Aha! I get that! I did that in my lab!" This is a sign you're catching on and truly understand the material.

But dude...with the braindumps like ********, you're just memorizing test questions and not learning anything. Microsoft can change the test questions anytime they want.

Sorry to hear about the failure. Also by the way "Test King" is a brain **** so you may not want to use those.

I used the MS Press book and the Measure Up CD that comes with the book for about 2 weeks and passed but everyone is different.

Maybe check out some of the books from this post - http://www.techexams.net/forums/windows-7-exams/58617-70-680-book.html

Usually using more than one book is good for cross referencing and filling in gaps for other books.

Study hard and nail it next time. icon_thumright.gif

You fail because of Test King. The MS Press book has enough information for you to pass the exam. You might not get the best score but if you read it, do the examples, and the practice tests from the CD you will pass the exam. I can tell you that after taking the exam 4 times and failing each one, someone at Microsoft will be watching the next time you take it to see if you have cheated to get a passing score. The tools that they use to find cheaters are very good.

Sorry about the rant, I just cannot stand to hear people **** and think they can get by in the real world after they have obtained some certification.

I wouldn't say you're ranting, this is worthy of a soapbox. However, he might not realize he was using a ****. A good rule of thumb is to avoid using any test prep resources that guarantee you will pass. No one can legitimately give you this kind of guarantee.

I agree. I honestly think he may not have known. Make sure to check CertGuard | IT Certification Exam Security & Integrity to find out whether or not a resource you are using on the web is a ****.

I was wondering is it possible i have an incorrect version of this book or is there an updated version? Because I have had questions on the test that i have never seen any material on in the book.

From what I've been hearing it might be good to take a look at some of the Windows Server R2 08' material as well as 70-685 stuff. Someone posted notes for the 685 a while back; they should still be floating around the forum.

Also give the MS exam retake policy a look before your next retake. You are only allowed 5 attempts in a calendar year. There is a disclaimer about "without consent from MS" but I imagine it's not easy to get to take it another time.

You will need more than the MS 680 book for this exam. I would set up a lab and practice all the exam objectives, to make sure you are solid on them. Use technet to fill in the gaps, look through the links that Claymoore provided in the 680 resources. I posted some 680 and 685 notes in the resources section. Perhaps reading through the 685 may fill in some blanks for you.
