I would try to describe how you've used all of the stuff that you've listed. I can't really get a solid idea of what stuff you've done with those technologies. Another tip would be to try and craft your resume to the things that they are looking for.

    Congratulations!!

Would this mean you'll have to relocate? This is a step up from what you're getting laid off from, isn't it?

I really like the way you listed skills with number of years for each skill. It's easy to see how this would illicit interest from a hiring manager after only a quick scan of your resume.

This would definitely require relocation which is great with the wife and myself. This is definitely a step up from where i'm coming from.

Thanks man I appreciate the feedback on the resume, its the first one I have written in years.

Cool, one question...do you already have your BS degree or just working on it?
Also I've wondered what the Hubbel stood for and still wonder...
No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

    Still working on the degree.

Hubbell was (maybe still is I know the company still exists) a data wiring certification for wiring building, understanding how many cables per bundle, acceptable degree bends in fiber and copper etc....

You are on a role! I hope you get multiple offers and can then pick and choose which one is best for you and the family.

Really nice there. I lived in that area while in the Navy and really liked it. If you enjoy salt/fresh water fishing or any watersports (scuba, sailing, skiing, deep sea fishing, or just lounging on the beach) you'll never run out of stuff to do.

Sounds like your biggest challenges will be navigating salary offers with tactfulness and choosing a location you will ultimately be happy with. Not all locales are created equal. I moved where I am now for a job, quit the job to go back to school, and as of May I'll probably be forced to move because there are very few employers around here. Hopefully you get in the ballpark of a pay range you're shooting for.

How are you going to go about deciding which employer to choose from? Lets say you get a job offer today, another Monday, and another on Tuesday. I'm curious how you would handle this. Surely you wouldn't accept the first offer that comes along.

Besides crapping my pants in excitement and firing out vomit from nerves I would probably choose any engineering job regardless if the money is good or bad over any other offers. I have already scoped out cities where these jobs are and they are all oddly similar (small cities with high growth due to new fiber networks). If I received an offer I would ask for 3-5 days to sit on it and make sure it is the best decision while looking over offers.

But really i'm just exciting this is week 1 on my job hunt and i'm having this much going on :)

Do you know about Reynold/Reynold or anyone who works there? I'm ok with traffic, I spent the first 22 years of life in Los Angeles.

You think traffic is bad there, you should see the traffic where I live. I live just outside of Washington D.C.

Makes sense! I'll remember this when I'm looking for a job in April (graduation is in May).

Wish I could throw myself out there on a national scale. Then again I don't have the experience you do. Believe me though, i'd give my right eye to get out of this city. Good luck and hope you find something you'll love.

Dude I know that company. All I will say is that make sure you can deal with things being very, very corporate.
If you get it, we should totally meet up. I can show you around time (not much too see) and stuff. Let me know.

It really isn't alot of traffic though. It is just not very organized (due to the changes to 75 and downtown). Seems like they have been building on downtown forever. Plus the way you are coming (North on 75) sucks lol.
