Hi All,
Sorry, just realised I posted this in the wireless section, i thought it was in the CCNA Main (Which I wasn't even sure was suitable, but I know the wireless is even more wrong....)
After the CCNA, I'm looking for others thoughts on whats the best route to follow, taking into consideration where people see the future roles being, e.g Voice, Security or even away from CISCO - e.g Virtualisation?
What are peoples thoughts? Maybe should have put this in a different forum..sorry.
Thanks

Different environments are going to give you what you need. As an example, someone in the banking industry will probably have a different opinion from someone in the Health Care industry, or (you fill in the blank) industry. It's all a matter of what YOU feel comfortable learning and doing. HTH.

While I agree with virtualization being a big thing that is growing, don't study something because its big. If you don't enjoy it and don't think its fun, then don't do it.
Read into some of the CCNA specializations and try and read a chapter or two of their books from the library or book store and see if it interests you, same thing for virtualization. Everything modern has a market. Don't go into being a Hub specialist or something outdated, but pick something modern that companies need and that you enjoy. Noone can tell you that but yourself, so do some research into the things you listed and pick what interests you.Currently PursuingWGU (BS in IT Network Administration) - 52%| CCIE:Voice Written - 0% (0/200 Hours)mikej412 wrote:Cisco Networking isn't just a job, it's a Lifestyle. -

As mentioned already you should enjoy what you do.. Yes I know it sounds very childish to say that but it's the truth.
Virtualization is getting pretty big nowadays since the many companies see it as a cost-saving asset. So it's a matter of time before virtualization becomes a standard for every mid-size organization out there.
Wireless, it's been around for years.. However with 802.11n people want that speed.. Plus wireless has it's own caveats, it's different then the wire (It's really it's own infrastructure using RF) and requires more planning (in most cases). It's hard to find an organization that doesn't have wireless.
So you can't go wrong the bigger question is.. Are you a network or server guy? Once you answer that one you've answered this question. My Networking blog
