Took the exam 2 days ago and passed icon_cheers.gificon_cheers.gificon_cheers.gif. Thanks for the encouragement and support.

The questions were pretty straight forward except for a few questions that where not in the objectives and CompTIA was nice enough to let me know that from the get go. I finished with 835.

I am on to get the Security+ hopefully before December 31st 2010 icon_lol.gif fingers crossed and then CCNA before May 2011 icon_lol.gif

Any Security+ tips icon_smile.gif???

    First of all, good job!

    Tips for Security+:
    Get Darril's and get to know it. Re-read sections that are tough for you, and do every question in that book at LEAST 3 times, and understand the answers. If you do that, and supplement it with at least 1 other good source (I used Transcender), you should be good to go. This combination yielded me an 855 after less than 3 weeks of study. (Granted I knew a lot of the information already)

    Good luck!

    Congrats on the pass!

    I'm in the same boat as you. Just passed N+ and studying for Sec+ now. Haven't decided yet to get into CCENT or a MS cert afterwards. I got my BS in IS awhile ago.

    +1 on what Josh said for Security+ tips, I have both Darril's book and the kindle version (for $10). Kindle version comes in handy as I use the Kindle for PC app on my netbook and work PC (I was able to finish a whole chapter during work today!)
    2011 Certification Plans so far:
    [Cisco: CCENT (ICND1)-> CCNA (ICND2)]
    [MS: MCP-> MCDST-> MCTS / MCITP:ESDT7-> MCITP:EDA7]

    Class taking:
    [Cisco NetAcademy - Network Fundamentals (35%)]

    Video currently watching:

    [CBT Nuggets - CCENT w/ Jeremy (50%)]
    [CBT Nuggets - 20-721 (40%)

    Congrats on the pass!
    Echoing everyone else...get the Darril Gibson book Amazon.com: CompTIA Security+: Get Certified Get Ahead: SY0-201 Study Guide (9781439236369): Darril Gibson: Books and you should be golden.
    Happy Thanksgiving!
    No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives.

    Thanks for the tips I ordered Darill's on Monday so hopefully I get it tomorrow icon_lol.gif.

    I also just got a gig as an IT Security Intern so I know I will need a more hands on approach to the Security+ with CCNA Security, CEH, CFI, SSCP.

    THANKS AGAIN AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING icon_smile.gif

    Congrats on the pass! Good score too. Read Darril's book do all of the questions at the end of the chapters. Then re-read chapter 9 and do the final test. Then re-read chapter 9 and do the pre-test.

    All kidding aside. Do all of the practice questions in the book and if you did not totally get the cryto chapter in one pass through don't worry it is a lot of info to keep in the noggin. The book really is the only resource you should need to pass. Darril nailed it.
