Welcome to TE! Sorry don't have any audio books to recommend, almost everyone here has just been reading Darril Gibson's Security+ Study Guide book to pass the exam. So if you haven't picked that up yet, everyone here will highly recommend it. It's been a smooth read for me so far, I just started on chapter 7, 3 more chapters to go!2011 Certification Plans so far:
[Cisco: CCENT (ICND1)-> CCNA (ICND2)]
[MS: MCP-> MCDST-> MCTS / MCITP:ESDT7-> MCITP:EDA7]
Class taking:
[Cisco NetAcademy - Network Fundamentals (35%)]
Video currently watching:
[CBT Nuggets - CCENT w/ Jeremy (50%)]
[CBT Nuggets - 20-721 (40%) -

erpadmin Member Posts: 4,165 ■■■■■■■■■■You could buy an Amazon Kindle. Then buy Darril Gibson's book on Kindle for $9.99. Once it's downloaded on the Kindle you can enable Text-To-Speech. (It's not very perfect, but it's close to audio learning).
I did NOT have to use TTS on Darril's book. Project+ though is a different story.......lol.
With or without the Kindle, Darril's book is the ONLY resource you need to pass this exam. Hands down! -
sthompson86 Member Posts: 370Darrils book is very good, As for audio books Erpadmin had a good suggestion. You could also go the video route with CBT nuggets-Trainsignal etc.Currently Reading: Again to Carthage - CCNA/Security

Good luckDecide what to be and go be it. -

$9.99 for Darril's book vs. $299 for the CBT Nuggets Security+??
With all due respect, there is no way I'd advise that. Even if you account for the $189 you spend for the 3G/Wifi Kindle, it's not only a cheaper solution, but there are MANY books available that can be utilized on it, and the readability is top notch.
No more having to buy bookshelves for my library...it's all on one sweet device.
I will clarify that I'm not saying the CBT Nuggets are not good...if you have access to it through your employer, by all means use it (I would have). I just can't justify $299 for a CBT when $9.99 for a boat load of useful practice exams are plenty...that's all I'm saying. That $299 is better spent for a more worthy cert. -
brianeaglesfan Member Posts: 130I used the CBT Nuggets in correlation with a book called the 11th Hour Security+ Study Guide (by Ido Dubrawsky) to pass it, and can confirm they are worth it, though like with others I also didn't have to pay for them.Complete: MSMIS, MBA, EPIC certified
In progress: CPHIMS, CAPM -
Devilsbane Member Posts: 4,214 ■■■■■■■■□□I bought Trainsignal for this test. Not bad material, but a huge waste of money. A $30 book has all the information, and then some, as the $299 videos.Decide what to be and go be it.

Security+ is actually a very good first certification, especially if your interest/need is InfoSec. It sure would be cool if there were some software that could speak aloud all of the posts in our Security+ forum, but none that I know of yet. -
twodogs62 Member Posts: 393 ■■■□□□□□□□I had bought kind due to the text to speech. Have both hard copy and kindle for audio.
Great book. Enjoying the read. Have a couple weeks before I test. -

I am kind of like you. For my Network+ i didnt use any books(just CBT nuggets, professor messer, and prep logic exams) and passed with a high score. i dont usually prefer to read if i can have video or hands on available. but as for the security+ i read Darrils book(it was/is HIGHLY recommended). I actually just finished reading the book today. Alot easier read than i thought it would be. I took it a chapter a day, slower than some people but i wasnt cramming for time. But with only a max of two questions wrong on every chapter test i think i am ready for the real thing. i will take the pre assessment and the post one tomorrow just to make sure but i should be sitting for this test in a week or so.[CENTER][FONT=Fixedsys][SIZE=4][COLOR=red][I]Величина бандит ... If you pass the pre and post, take the test that, or the next, day. Why wait a week!? you arent going to get anything else out of the material than you already have, get it over with. I finished Darrils book on a Thursday and sat the test on Friday. Do it while its fresh!Check out my blog: http://securityslam.tumblr.com

Remember, whether it's a 750 or 900, it amounts to the same thing: a cheap looking certificate, and a very nice looking wallet card.
I'm sure I'll be saying nostrovia in the coming days.
