CCNA Security Renew CCNA?

I have heard contradicting items related to this. My CCNA is set to expire in August. I am planning on doing both CCNA Security and CCSP/CCNP Security before then, but is something comes up and I am only able to complete the CCNA Security, will be CCNA be renewed? Thanks!

From what I've heard it will renew the CCNA. If you take an exam on the same level or higher it will renew your CCNA.

Passing the CCNA Security will renew your CCNA as this was my main reason for taking this exam a couple of months ago.
