in Security+
So I am scheduled to take Security+ on Monday, 12/13. I'm a DoD employee so it's mandatory that I pass (IAT II). I used Darril Gibson's book, so I feel pretty confident!
Wish me luck!

I've been studying on and off for almost a month. I got a 91% in the end of book test, and went back and did the pre-test and did about the same. I'm going to go over all of the chapter questions again. I feel like I know the information. My weak domain is crypto, although I studied hard on that again today and got most of it down.WGU BSITStart Date: July 1, 2013

I would actually prefer to take it during the week. Its a lot less packed. I can only imagine how it is going to be on Saturday, being its the end of the year.Величина бандит ... Ваша сеть моя детская площадка

gunbunnysoulja Member Posts: 353So, I passed Security+ today. To be honest, I am a bit disappointed (yes, I know I passed) because my score was a 750. I honestly don't know what happened as the questions were like left field to me, even though I was getting ALL the questions right in Darril Gibson's book. I felt like I knew the material, but come test time the questions were literally very suprising.
I also took a practice test on VTE and got a 95%. I know there is a large database of questions so perhaps I just got the "tough bunch", but I really didn't expect it to be so difficult. I got a perfect on the A+, so I expected to do a bit better considering that I "thought" to of comprehended the material. There were many acronyms that I didn't remember seeing. Perhaps they were in there but not emphasized.
I know Darril's book is great and I don't want it to seem like it wasn't useful, I just really don't know what was up with the test I took today!
Thanks again to everyone at TE for the help! Network+ up next!WGU BSITStart Date: July 1, 2013

Congratulations man, you earned it. A pass is a pass; all that matters is that you understand the content and take something away from the experience! -
xxdunstxx Registered Users Posts: 3 ■□□□□□□□□□I also just passed today. I was very excited as I studied especially hard for this exam. Primarily because of the deadline and also because the material is quite interesting.
Scored a 826 (or 28, I don't have my sheet on me).
It seems like all of the questions were straight out of the primary objectives. I'd say only 4/100 caught me completely off guard. I used:
CBT Nugget videos
Mike Myers Security+ passport
I also perused the web looking at Security+ objectives content and watched a few youtube videos on detection and prevention systems as well as encryption + PKI.
Very excited to have my lifetime cert.
A+, Net+, and Sec+ so far!
GL to future testers! -

That sounds about the same as everyone who uses Darril's book to take the test. Score in the mid to low 90's but feel weak in Cryptology. Then you walk into the test and knock it out of the park.
Congratulations!Decide what to be and go be it.
