Well that sucks, I wanted to take 70-431 but I'm packets deep in Cisco land right now . -

It's about time for them to retire but MS should still hold off a while IMO. SQL 2005 is still in wide use in some environments and is still supported by the newer server OSes.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

It's typical for exams to retire when the product has 2 versions out and SQL Server 2011 is right around the corner.
2005 to 2008 is not a huge leap. If you get certified on 2008 you will be good on 2005.
