Passed JNCIA-Junos

Passed today with 73%. Relatively tough exam I thought. I'll say the 2 pdf files are BARELY enough to pass; there were plenty of questions that I think either weren't really covered by them or weren't covered well enough for me to be able to apply the information enough to be able to answer questions asked. But I'll take the 73%.

The wife didn't pass though (51% or so; 66% was passing), so that tempers the celebration quite a lot.

I felt the exact opposite about the material provided. I thought it was more than adequate and I don't remember a single question that wasn't covered in those two PDFs.

Congrats, kind of makes me annoyed that I did mine earlier (by about 8 days), I needed to get over 85% to pass

It's a cool cert though, and Juniper gear is definitely very awesome.

on another note, how has the exam changed from 85% to 66% pass mark? i now notice the juniper website doesnt state the pass mark, previously it did. i need to get my stuff together and go for these exams for work.

They refreshed the JNCIA-JUNOS at the end of October, dropped any reliance on the troubleshooting material, and dropped the pass mark. The exam changed from the JNO-100 to the JNO-101 I believe at the same time.

Took JNCIA-Junos today. Also passed, got an 81. Totally irked about that, I worked on the EX and MX platform everyday! Studied for a bit too, I'd say until you get 100% on the pretest you should keep studying. Just my opinion though.

Some very specific questions, not what I was expecting at all.

Hello lurker, reading that the test was changed and the pass level lowered 81 sounds like a very good score. Remember a pass is a pass, but in two years you get to take a crack at it again.

Sorry to bump this thread but I saw this thread and signed up for the fast track.

I'm interested in the Associate and the specialist. Right now, I have a CCNA and CCNP (and a few CCNA flavors).

Is it possible to pass the Associate-level cert with just the two PDFs?

I think you will be fine with the PDFs available as far as reading material. I would make sure you get some hands on also. The certification is based are the basics of junos so getting familiar with the CLI is definitely a must. Some olives would be a great substitute if you don't have access to some real gear.

Yeah, I'm trying to get some Olive. I guess you can run it in VM Workstation, which is awesome (and I'm sure ESXi and ESX and whatever else). I'll give it a whirl.

I think I'll give the associate's cert a whirl before May.

For those who passed the new exam, how long did you study for?

I studied several weeks total; 3 maybe 4. Of course a lot of the command syntax was linux/bsd-ish, and seemed (to me) a bit C-ish too, so the command parts I didn't have TOO much trouble with.

You should be able to run olives in vmware, since mine were all ran under virtualbox (although I could only really run 1 at a time if I wanted 'live' access). Some of the commands aren't present, and not everything works as expected (noticably OSPF and show chassis commands), but well enough for the JNCIA:Junos.

I believe thats due to multicast issues with VirtualBox (and most virtualization suites out there) as to why OSPF wouldn't run. If you use QEMU with the multicast patch, it works absolutely fine.

The show chassis commands though have the same issue.

Passed last week with 81%. The two PDF files should be more than enough if you also practice using all the commands covered in the PDFs on the CLI. I studied for about two weeks.

Now on to the JNCIS

You can find a list of test centers and register for the exam at http://www.prometric.com. Choose Juniper and look for Locate a Test Site. I found 10 available in Karachi.
