Just passed NETWORK+

Hey all,

I just passed NET+ Friday with an 835. Is it reasonable and realistic to get my Sec+ in 2 weeks?

There is a bit of overlap from the net+, and the A+ (I'd you had both and they were recent it would up your chances)but you should get darril gibsons book( I used it a passed with an 860)an read a chapter or two a night. That will cement your passing score but with the Net+ alone...I dont see a pass unless you have prior security knowledge.

I really don't have much security knowledge and only have about 13 days to prepare for the exam. Would reading Darril's book within that period of time get me a pass?

The Sec+ seems less broad than the Net+ and seems easier because the Net+ had so much numerical memory. ex: ports, speeds, distances, binary

There are people here who have confirmed that they have passed Security+ with only 10 days of study with Darril Gibson's book. That's certainly doable; I took a little longer than that passing Project+ very recently...but Darril's book is a much easier read to absorb the material. If you spend the $9.99 right now buying the book, you will have a nice start. Also, many testing centers are available (at least in the NYC) on 12/31 (via Prometric). I can't speak for your area or others.

Read the book...you'll be fine. There are people who can't even spell IT who passed this exam with just this book...just needed the cert to remain employed by the Federal government (as per the Amazon reviews...). With just Net+, you should be good to go, but you will need Darril's book.

It is possible. I got Darril's book Nov 23rd. Started reading on the 25th and was done by the 29th. Reviewed for a week and took the exam (and passed) Dec. 7th.

depends on experience, motivation, and dedication.. but i think you can do it!

just read the whole book in a week then spend a week on practice questions and review.. oh cyberguypr already said this hehe..

I'm going to go over mc mcse study guide notes until the darril gibson comes in.
