in Security+
When I passed my Net+ with flying colors in May I said "Oh I have till the end of the year to pass my Security+ plenty of time" since I have to get it done before the new year and the new rules apply with Comptia. Look at me now!! Just scheduled my Sec+ for December 29th at 2pm!! Holy Cow I have to pass on first try, a little nervous but know I can do it I have been reading both the Mike Meyers book and on my iPad I have the Darril Gibson Book through the Kindle app. So I know I am in good hands with that. I have some pretty good knowledge with System Security already, please someone give me some guidance that has went through it and passed!! Thanks in advance, in the meantime I will be...

1) I would focus on reading one of those books (Darril) and using the other book (Meyers) for supplemental on something you didn't understand.
2) On average, it should take you 10 days (give or take a couple) to finish one of those books (Darril). You then do the final exam at the end of Darril's book and whatever you were weak on, you can spend time on both books to get you through it.
Not for nothing, but I am really wondering how this forum is going to look like after 12/31/2010...I'm sure folks will still gun for Security+ but it won't have quite the same amount of activity as it once did. -
NetEngineer86 Member Posts: 46 ■■□□□□□□□□I hear ya bro, and thanks for the wisdom I will do just that. I really truly dont think the test will be a problem I have just heard that the way the questions are worded can sometimes trip you up. Kinda like a Cisco exam and I am familiar with those?

I feel like Cisco exams questions are pretty straight forward but sometimes being forced to go the reverse way to figure something out kind of sucks but its always doable. With this Sec+ exam, you may see things like choose the "best" option versus "choose a relevant answer". One major tip for this, and I've seen this in both the nuggets and Darill's, is always remember human life is priority one in any scenario. It's weird that we have to be told that . -
NetEngineer86 Member Posts: 46 ■■□□□□□□□□Good tip!! And I'll keep that in mind. And on the cisco stuff I think they are more notorious for making sure you really KNOW the answer rather than can just "guess" it. I know on my CCENT exam there were a lot of nail biters. Thanks for all the kind words fellas!!

+1
and
I'm sure after the new year the activity will die down.
