Wanted to report that I completed the Security+ today.
I only used Darril Gibson's book and reading the threads on this forum to prepare for the test. I started studying Oct 1st and probably would have had it done sooner, except had a few things come up in my life that prevented me from having it done sooner.
BTW, when I talked to the woman who proctored my exam today she said there booked up solid for people taking the CompTIA exams and trying to beat the deadline...so...If you haven't booked your exam yet, you might not get it in, so it good to plan ahead.

Congrats! I also asked the testing lady today about the schedule. She said the exact opposite -- hardly anybody is testing there. Of course, I live in a fairly small town. -

I live in the Omaha area, and my friend is trying to get his Security+ before the end of the year and he is going to have to travel to near Iowa/South Dakota to take his! Two weeks ago Prometric in my area had lots of dates but now its completely done for the year. Only a few left on the Pearson Vue side.2011 Certification Plans so far:

Congrats!
Yeah my normal test site has been booked all month. When I took my 643 a few weeks ago all the cubes in the testing area were filled which has never happened before when I've gone there.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

Same here with the scheduling - the testing center near me is all booked up and I had to schedule in another state for Net+ and Sec+. Unfamiliar testing center, but it's either that or wait til next year. -

Congrats on passing!!! I passed today as well using the same book. Get this book people if you want to pass!!! You can pass this test.

What state is that, NY? I go to NYC most of the time for cert exams (Manhattan) and I'm in Jersey too. (Though I imagine if you're in South Jersey, then it's Philly for you or perhaps even Delaware). The last exam [Project+], I had to go to Rahway...I wanted a Saturday exam, but they were ALL booked up...(yup, all those A+, Net+ and Sec+ getting all lifetimed up). LOL.
