Netgear..

Hello everyone, i have some problem playing with Netgear WNDR3700 , here is situation:

Laptop IP: 192.168.1.4 (wireless)
PC IP: 192.168.1.3
GW: 192.168.1.1
SM: 255.255.255.0

Ping from laptop to:
PC - fail
GW - ok

Ping from PC to:
laptop - ok
GW - ok

I don't get it why it's like this, i don't have any ACL's, firewalls...
Someone have any ideas ?

Check the PC and make sure it isn't running a Windows Firewall or another Firewall.

are you sure that windows firewall is turned off on the PC? Every time something like this happened in the lab at school somebody hadn't turned their windows firewall off or atleast allowed ICMP packets

Windows Firewall is turned off, still if it was on i think Windows XP by default allows incoming echo request. I am not sure, just thinking.

I'm sorry for this absolutely meaningless thread... i have McAfee which is expired and i can't turn off firewall :} because i need to renew it or uninstall...

ah! another reason I stay away from McAfee. As far as Windows XP allowing incoming echo requests I think that is true for the initial release with ICF but I think for the later service packs with Windows firewall the default is for ICMP to not be allowed. I am 90% sure of this but I could be wrong.

Yeah i hate it either, i am just visiting my aunt and uncle in US so because i am in Pompano Beach and don't have any idea what to do here so that's how i came into networking... I wanted just to do printer sharing...

Uninstall McAfee and install MSE.

Yeah i think i will do this way, it's sounds better, what about MSE is it good enough ?

well it's free and certainly better than McAfee Security Suite that won't let you turn the firewall off and has out of date virus definitions!
