Need some advince on what to do...

So I talked to this person in a government lab about a position I was interested in. He asked for my resume and transcript and I forwarded them. He also said that he will get back to me before the "holidays". Well it's been almost a week now and still no reply. What should I do?

1) Don't do anything and realize that I will not be considered?
2) Send a polite reminder?
3) Wait longer...

I don't want to seem desperate...maybe he is just busy?

I'd wait until next week, and if you still don't have a response, send a quick reminder. They might be busy catching up with stuff postponed during the holidays, or otherwise getting back up to speed. I spent this week doing the latter since I had a week and a half off due to the holidays.
