Interview tomorrow

I've got a face to face interview tomorrow early in the morning. There wasn't much information in the job posting other than Computer repair technician with A+. The pay is pretty decent for that type of position in that area. On Friday I have a phone interview for a level 1 support technician job but looks like it would pay a little less but is basically the same job just a little closer.

Both places look like they specialize in IT services for small businesses with the better paying job having more of a store front and doing more with home users. I'm guessing with both I would be starting off doing virus removal, break/fix remotely and in store with probably not much on-site stuff at first but hopefully I would get the chance to do more network support on site.

Anyway, I've been reviewing some A+ type stuff and trying to mentally prepare. Hopefully I do well in the interviews as I am fully confident in my abilities to do well in either position. I've done that type of work before in a similar company it's just been a while since I've worked in any IT job. I am ready to get my foot back in the door. Wish me luck and I would love to hear in tips!

You should know more about your potential employer than what it "looks like" they do. This is a very popular opening to job interviews. And if you will lose brownie points if all you know is that they had a job opening on this site somewhere and it said something about fixing computers.

If a website doesn't tell you much, you can always phone in and ask someone what their business entails.

Your enthusiasm about a job starts BEFORE you even walk in the door and is very noticeable (by what you know..or don't know) for whoever interviews you. Good luck.

thanks. and point taken - I've already done my research on the first company and had started to research the second one. For instance other facts I know the first company uses GoToAssist as their remote support solution so I watched some demos to familiarize myself. Interestingly I know the second company's owner is a University of Georgia Bulldog fan and knows how to play bocce ball!

That went well! They've asked me back next week for a second more technical 'working' interview that he said would basically consist of me troubleshooting some issue. I'm a little excited I wish I could go ahead and do the second interview.

Looking forward to the phone interview with the other company tomorrow as well.

Not sure I agree with this. Most jobs near me hide the end employer and you don't find them out until after you interview with the recruiter.

Seems like the job market is picking up around here! I just got another phone call asking me if I was available for an in person interview tomorrow. This is for a help desk position in a large corporate environment. In two days time I will have had 2 in person and one phone interview.

Update: Went to the other face to face interview and just got finished with the phone interview. I've gotten positive feedback on each of the three interviews. So, next week I have a second interview, and at the end of the phone interview they asked me to come in for an in person interview. I really hope I get an offer from at least one of these companies!

well, I've had 4 companies contact me in the last two weeks and all the phone and in person interviews are done. One place would have been a good opportunity and I had a good phone interview with them but when I asked about which shift they were looking for it wouldn't have worked with my classes this semester. I should hear from one place by tomorrow on whether I will get a job offer. Another place I haven't heard back from after the interview and I think they would have been my last choice anyway.

That leaves one company and over lunch today at a cool little pizza joint they offered me a job!!!! It's a small managed IT solution company with the clients being small business and home users. Just so glad to be back in the industry.
