I wish the phone would stop ringing....

... and I had a job already!

Geez, 3 different recruiters called me today. Story of my life.

1st one - IT Technician - Im way overqualified for, want someone to do basic hardware installs.

2nd one - Network Engineer - Everything looks great, i fit the bill nicely, but its almost 90% travel time, and I can't really do that right now.

3rd one - Network Engineer II - I fit everything they are looking for except they want someone with experience with Cisco Telepresence. So I'm not a qualified candidate.

Everything comes down to the nitty gritty. I can match 90% of everything they are looking for but when it comes to that last 10% it disqualifies me. People are soooo picky! Everyday I get at least 3-5 phone calls, but still no job.

At least I got one callback for an onsite interview based on the two phone interviews I had with this company. So thats a good sign. Not my career focus, Systems Admin, and pays only about 40k but its better than homelessness right now lol.

I had a recruiter call me a few days ago and wanted to submit me to their client. I talked to her for a while on the phone and asked for the job description. I emailed her back and said I did not feel I was a good fit for the position. She said I was, I wanted to tell her I had to Google half of the stuff in the list because I did not know what the products were.

Well at least you're becoming experienced in phone interviews. Passing interviews is what gets us jobs.

Went through that bit as well. Had a few dozen phone calls about various things. Finally got one of them, however, I am still looking. I have 3 years experience in a network help desk already, I didn't want to go from 1 L1 help desk to another. This one isn't even much of a help desk, it's password reset galore and everything of substance is routed to other departments. I can see absolutely 0 potential for growth with this job as everything is so compartmentalized. Looking at something that will pay about 7k less but give me more hands on experience with a lot of other things, the holy grail that is the small shop. icon_lol.gif

Yeah for real, one is bound to stick, got another callback this morning for another interview at Cisco. Network Analyst position, while it wont be giving me a lot of additional hands on experience, I'll be more of a paper pusher, I think it would be a good way to get in. Hah if I get that I think I'll head over and say hello to the guys I had 4 interviews in the other department and let em know I'll work after hours for free to get my feet wet.

    Here's to hoping.

Good luck! Once you are "in" transferring to another position down the road will be easier than being an outside candidate.
