Needed time for review, and some insight on my situation :)

Hey guys,

It's my first time around here. I've just gone through 4 chapters of Todd Lammle's book, and i'm enjoying it so far. Prior to this, i've no networking experience whatsoever (well at least, when it comes to Cisco stuff), nor work experience.

I'm also weary of my current academic status. I'm 20 years old already, It seems, I won't be able to finish college, so I think having no college diploma would become an initially handicapping factor for me, i'd like to hear experiences from those - if ever there are - people who may be in a similar situation as i am. How are you all doing with your certifications now?

So here are my inquiries... How long would it take for me to thoroughly cover everything needed for the exam? It seems i've drifted through 4 chapters in 3 days, although I must admit i'm not 100% sure with the material, I'm alotting more time to re-reading them on some other days. Also, I dunno where to get hold of routers.. I've read around here, everyone got theirs from eBay, but I can't do that since I don't have a credit card, debit card, etc. and I live in the Philippines. :)

Read the book all the way through, then spend some time with online router pods. Probably by that time you will feel much more comfortable with the subject, and you'll be able to look around in the phillipines for hardware(which I suspect is available, let's face it...they're wired too.) Or get your hands on boson's router simulator.
