path for c|hfi

has any one taken this cert there doesnt seam to be much info out there and i need to take it for work
and do i need to do c|eh first

There is no certification prerequisite for the CHFI, but you do need to either attend an official CHFI training course, or have the experience to waive the training requirements, but only with permission from EC-Council. More about forensics certs on my blog article:

im a probation officer and the judges i work for asked if i could get it
i explained there are many comp sec. certs out there and this wasnt always the best one but it has investigator in the name so ... well ya know how non tech people can be

for EnCase training. That's the premier forensics industry event.

i wanted to goto defcon but that one is closer

There are usually a few computer and network forensics-related talks at each Defcon, but it's nowhere near the forensics learning experience that CEIC is. Check out the
Defcon Media Archives
to watch the presentations and look at the slide decks of past Defcon presentations.
