What best lab software/resources to use?
Jarhead2011
Im planning to take "the beast" in 2 weeks. And was wondering what lab simulations is the best and also what resources for exam 70-291? Im using MS Press, Testout and have an exam cram but not yet gone over it. Just need this one to get my MCSA 2003.

I used TestOut for 70-291, that should prepare you enough for the beast. You really need to know DNS and RRAS really well. I'd fly through the simulations and exam questions from TestOut just before the test. Good Luck!

The MCSE Core Exams in a Nutshell book has a very good set of labs for all of the exams. I also think that TestOut is very good for all the MCSE exams.

thanks for the info. how in depth do they go with subnetting in this exam? Ive just work through testout dns section helped me allot understanding the concepts of it still not 100% sure of rras never seen it in action only on 1 or 2 cisco routers

I think I only got 1 or 2 questions about subnetting. Like a machine which couldn't connect but it had the wrong subnet mask something like that. It's not like the CCENT kind of subnetting onslaught.

is the rras questions difficult to figure out what they exactly want as an answer?

I think the RRAS questions were interactive questions for me, it's been a while since I took the test so my memory of the exam has faded. But if you pass the RRAS section in TestOut you should be prepared pretty well.

There wasn't a ton of subnetting, but you should still completely understand it (well at least enough to do it given 5 minutes and scratch paper). Those should be gimme questions for you.
