Powerpoint Slidwhow in Linux
Our HR Dept. updates a Powerpoint on a daily basis and the Powerpoint plays on our Windows box via a batch script that auto starts and plays the Powerpoint in a loop.
We are swapping this machine out with ubuntu 10.10 box and are looking for a way to script this out. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

+1, excellent idea. Much better than trying to get OpenOffice to display a MS document accurately. -

I wish it were that easy, my departments hates using wine -

1. WINE. IMO this is probably the best bet if you don't want a Windows VM and want 100% compatibility
2. OpenOffice or a third party viewer. Expect compatibility issues because somebody used a new feature.
3. VM to run Windows
The only viewer which will show 100% of all PPTs would be Powerpoint or the Powerpoint Viewer. Microsoft are awful about documenting these file formats so you're not going to get 100% coverage in anything else. -
Optionsaordal Member Posts: 372You can try crossover, which kind of runs on Wine but you can omit that part when you're selling it to your HR dept.
