Licensing woes
Qord
I was recently handed software licensing. What a PITA!! Worst task ever I say! Anywho, any of you pro's out there have any good advice? Where do you start when it seems like nobody else ever has? Once you've started, how do you stay organized? Do you use inventory software? I'm working on inputting data into Lansweeper; It's not the ideal management software choice for me, but I don't have any experience with any others. Thanks.

Absolutely use dynamic inventory software, or you'll just fall out of compliance again over time. OCS inventory is a very good freebie. Paid solutions will usually include license reconciliation modules for tracking your installs vs. license count for you. More upfront but so much easier to manage.

Spiceworks has an inventory and audit tool

I have used both OCS and spiceworks. OCS is the better option for tracking software in my opinion but spiceworks is also a good option.
