Need recommendation for a network toner
brad-
I have some mislabeled wall jacks that I'm having a hard time locating. I searched newegg and CDW for network toners to try to find these jacks on the punch panels, or in a switch...but there are several, and I dont see any reviews. Anyone have personal experience with one they would recommend?

Your friend for reviews is
Amazon.com: network toner
I've used Greenlee and Fluke and both have been flawless.

i see the cable runners in the area use that one often and have no issues with it

SolarWinds LANSurveyor might be able to identify the computer on the other of the Switch power (if it's live).. They offer a trial version you can test with it only requires SNMP be configured on the switch.
The toner I have in the office is from triplett, never really had any problems with it and it does it's job, but it's just a basic no special readings or anything like a fluke.

This is what I use
at work and I like it. It's a basic tone generator, but you can use it to plug straight into a wall jack with, plug an Ethernet cable into the toner, and then you select which wire pair to send the tone down.
What I would suggest though is if you don't already have a cable tester, maybe looking into a combo piece of equipment that is a tone generator and cable tester. I have separate equipment, so I'd have to read reviews about those.

This is what I've got at the office, and it works great:
Newegg.com - JDSU KP101 Buttie Test Set
Plug the tone generator in the port, then hunt around the patch panel for the tone. Did plenty of that when we evicted some tenants (for more space) and reactivated some ports that were still in there.
